Question:

A Windows Vista user from Northwest Iowa asks:

I had Outlook Express and now have Windows Mail. How do I get the Outlook Express address book into my Windows Mail?

Answer:

While the following steps may look intimidating, they are actually very easy to follow. What we are going to do is EXPORT your address book from Outlook Express, get that file to your new computer, and IMPORT it into your Windows Mail.

1. Open Outlook Express and click on FILE>EXPORT>ADDRESS BOOK.

2. This will launch the "Address Book Export Tool". In this list, click on "Text File (Comma Separated Values) and click on the EXPORT button.

The next screen asks where you want to save your file. Click on "BROWSE" and select the folder where you would like the file to be saved as well as a name for it. Then click SAVE.

3. After you click save, the CSV Export window will open. Here you will have to select which contact details you want to export. Select the ones you want or select all the fields and then press the FINISH button.

This has saved your address book to a file on your computer. You can then email the file to yourself, put it on a disk or copy it to a flash drive. The goal is to put that exported file onto your new computer.
